Indexing for AI search: begin with ordinary Search eligibility

A page must remain eligible for ordinary Search before broader AI-search questions can be interpreted. Eligibility is still not a promise of any AI feature appearance.

Direct answer

Keep the search question explicit.

For Google AI features, follow ordinary Google Search indexing and snippet-control guidance. Indexability does not guarantee an AI Overview, AI Mode result, source, or ranking.

Check ordinary eligibility

Use Google’s existing crawling, indexing, and quality guidance as the baseline for Google AI features.

Keep snippet controls visible

Applicable snippet controls remain part of how eligible content can be presented in Search experiences.

Do not infer inclusion

Being indexed is not evidence of AI feature inclusion, a stable position, or future traffic.
